The President’s Role

The President is elected at our AGM for a term of two years. Don provides us with advice and support and helps us spread the word about what we do.

Don’s Biography

Don Foster was the Member of Parliament representing Bath for 20 years. A well respected and experienced MP, in September 2012 he was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Communities and Local Government. He lives in Bath and has been married to Victoria Jane since 1968; they have a son and a daughter and three grandchildren. Born in Preston, Lancashire, and educated at the Lancaster Royal Grammar School, he studied at Keele University where he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in physics and psychology in 1969. He also received the Certificate in Education, and later studied for his master’s degree in education at the University of Bath in 1981. In August 2015 Don was awarded a life peerage in recognition of his political career and sits in the House of Lords.
