Join The Hive
The Hive is a group of assistive technology users, carers and professionals who provide us with their ideas and views on our ongoing and new design and development projects.
You could help us to design a product that will change lives.
Who can join?
You do not need to have any technical or design skills. We welcome anyone who is willing to share their experiences of living with a disability, being older, or of being a carer.
We also encourage professionals such as occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech therapists, who can include this as part of their Continuing Professional Development portfolio.
How does it work?
We collect your views through a variety of activities including:
- Questionnaires (online and postal)
- Focus groups (online and in person)
- Technology or product prototype trials
- Participation in research projects.
You can choose which activities you would be comfortable participating in when you join.
How often would I be contacted?
We may only contact you a few times a year or less depending on the project proposals and queries that arise.
We also acknowledge membership annually (in December) and send members our Designability newsletter when available.
How do I join?

If you have any queries, please contact Jacqui Boardman, Research Admin Assistant, on firstname.lastname@example.org or 01225 824103.
All personal information is confidential and your input in projects will be presented anonymously.
We also request you keep the information we supply to you on our projects confidential.
If at any time you decide you no longer wish to be a part of The Hive, just let us know and we’ll update our database.
