Professor Nigel Harris is responsible for the day to day running of Designability, supported by Commercial Manager, Alex Leach. Nigel leads our research team and as a Registered Clinical Scientist, contributes to Medical Engineering and Assistive Technology work programs.

More than 25 years of NHS experience in Medical Physics research and managerial roles

Director of Designability since 2009

Honorary Chair with the Department for Health at the University of Bath

Fellow of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine

Registered Clinical Scientist with the Health Professions Council

Honorary Consultant Clinical Scientist, Royal United Hospital Bath

  • Rehabilitation research (Stroke and Acquired Brain Injury)
  • Technology for people living with Cognitive Impairments
  • Physiological measurement and ambulatory monitoring
  • Technology transfer and innovation tools

Grants and awards

Has previously lead or supported at least 12 major grants and awards.

Currently Principal Investigator on a three year research project to explore the use of prompting technology to help people with dementia complete simple everyday activities at home, funded by the Dunhill Medical Trust.
